James Hardie Shipping Agreement

Thank you for your order with Builders Warehouse and we appreciate your business. There are a few things we would like to make you aware of for your James Hardie order. Builders Warehouse is one location in Chicago, IL. This means that we ship all of our materials with third party freight. The driver will bring the material to your address but is not responsible for unloading any materials. All material will be delivered on a 53’ enclosed semi trailer. Forklifts or crane trucks will not be provided to move any of the material and pallet jacks will not be able to move long material inside of the truck. Pallets of long material are pushed sideways into the truck from our dock so it will not be possible to get forklift forks into the pallet, and they do not fit on a lift gate.  For these reasons, most of the time the only way to get the material off of the truck is to hand unload.

The purchaser of the product is responsible for offloading any and all material. Builders Warehouse and the 3rd party trucking company are not responsible for any offloading. 

After the material leaves our dock, the delivery arrival time is out of our control and in the hands of the freight company.

Materials may arrive anywhere on the truck including all the way at the front of the 53’ trailer. We recommend being prepared for any situation since we will not know where this material will be located in the truck. If you do have a forklift, materials can be dragged to the end of the trailer with a forklift using tow chains or tow straps. Although a forklift may be helpful, it is not guaranteed that a forklift will be able to completely unload the material. It is recommended to have a team to hand unload the material (average 20 minutes per 100 pieces for 2 people). There will be a 2 hour window to unload. Again, please do not rely on a forklift. 

If the material is unable to be unloaded in the 2 hour scheduled time the material will need to be rescheduled for delivery or taken to a reload center which will result in additional charges that you will be responsible for.
