Oversized Freight Delivery Terms
Please review these delivery terms before placing an order for oversized freight products through Builders Warehouse.
Oversized freight products are large or long building materials that ship by third-party freight from our location in Chicago, Illinois.
The purchaser is responsible for unloading all material from the truck at delivery. The freight driver will deliver the material to the address on the order, but the driver is not responsible for unloading, carrying, or moving the material.
Oversized freight material may arrive on a 53-foot enclosed trailer or other freight vehicle. Long material may be loaded sideways into the trailer and may be placed anywhere in the trailer, including near the front. Because of the length, size, or loading method, the material may not be accessible by forklift, pallet jack, or liftgate. In many cases, the material must be unloaded by hand.
Please have enough people and equipment available before the truck arrives. A forklift, tow chains, or tow straps may help move material toward the rear of the trailer, but they may not work for every shipment. We recommend being prepared to hand unload the material. As a general estimate of James Hardie HardiePlank, two people can unload approximately 100 pieces in about 20 minutes, depending on the material and delivery conditions.
Delivery appointments usually include a limited unloading window, typically about 2 hours. If the material cannot be unloaded from the truck during the scheduled delivery window, the shipment may need to be rescheduled or taken to a reload center. Additional charges will be the purchaser’s responsibility.
Once the shipment leaves our dock, delivery timing is controlled by the freight carrier. Builders Warehouse cannot guarantee the exact arrival time.
