• The diverter is installed inline in your downspout, where the Y-shape creates two possible outlets for the water.  

• By flipping the lever, you can change the internal damper to open or close the path to the rain barrel or the standard downspout exit.

• When your rain barrel is full, if you are using one, you simply switch the lever, allowing the water to exit through the original downspout and preventing overflow. 

• It helps manage large volumes of water during storms, preventing soil erosion and protecting your home's foundation from water damage.
